Reach Renewed Texture With RF Microneedling

The team at the Dermatology of McKinney addresses common skin issues with the latest microneedling technology. With RF microneedling, tiny needles create microscopic holes in the skin while releasing radiofrequency energy to heat and tighten the skin. Patients can choose between our range of options, including Exion, Agnes, and Scarlet RF devices.

Tactful Micro-Punctures

In addition to the skin-rejuvenating benefits of microneedling, the radiofrequency side of RF Microneedling heats tissues to promote collagen production.

Radiofrequency-charged heat, delivered through tiny needles, breaks hydrogen bonds in collagen fibers, making them tighter. Fibroblasts, which contribute to the production of connective tissue such as collagen, help organize tightened and newly formed collagen into firmer structures, resulting in improved skin appearance.

Our Microneedling Devices

The Agnes RF microneedling device stands out with its unique application electrodes, featuring both a single-pin and three-pin insulated needle. Unlike other microneedling devices, it offers a selection of 9 interchangeable heads, each designed for precise and effective treatment of different areas. The needles come with varying lengths of insulation, allowing the device to address the specific needs of various body parts.

Scarlet SRF delivers treatments with safe, effective, and reproducible results on all skin types. The device delivers RF energy through 25 non-insulated microneedles. Providers can choose from 3 treatment presets or work with patients to dial in their treatment independently. This device is reportedly less painful and requires less downtime than other RF microneedling devices.

Exion RF Microneedling can reach 8 mm into the skin while only penetrating 4mm, making it the perfect device for the deepest treatment depths or delicate areas.

Preparing for RF Microneedling

Things to Do:

  • Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturized.
  • Relay any medical conditions and medications you’re on to your provider.
  • Take antiviral medication 1 day prior if you suffer from cold-sore blisters.

Things to Avoid:

  • Avoid Aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs.
  • Stay out of tanning beds and minimize sun exposure.
  • Don’t wear makeup, lotions, and perfumes to your session.

Post-Treatment Care

Things to Do:

  • Wash the treated area gently 3 to 4 times a day using mild cleansers.
  • Apply a thin layer of healing ointment and use an ice pack to reduce swelling.
  • When sleeping, use 2 to 3 pillows to elevate your head.

Things to Avoid:

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
  • For the first 2 days after treatment, avoid hot baths, massage, and exfoliants.
  • Do not scratch or touch tiny scabs. Allow these to shed naturally.
